When I watched The Fault in Our Stars, I just knew I wanted to go to Amsterdam. I’m not sure if it was the beautiful canals or Anne Frank Huis that had me ready to pack my bags, but I knew I wanted to experience the beautiful city.

My classmates and I got the opportunity to spend 3 days in Amsterdam. Our journey began on July 18th; travel day. On July 19th, we landed in Amsterdam at approximately 9:30 am. From the airport, we traveled by train to our hostel. We stayed at the Generator Hostel while there. On the first day, we had a little free time before we were able to check into our rooms, so I went out with a couple of girls and explored the city.

After check-in, we got ready to head to our dinner cruise. The cruise was something I had been wanting to experience and we got to get dolled up... definitely up my alley. We had a 5 course meal and just got to relax and see Amsterdam from an unforgettable view.

Leaving the dinner cruise, I went out with another group of classmates to The Red Light District. The street reminded me of a college town street... but with “workers” in windows. It was indeed something new and enjoyable. I think it should be visited by anyone who takes a trip to Amsterdam. My night came to an end after this. The next morning, we had appointments to visit the Rijksmuseum as well as The Museum of Bags and Purses.

The next morning, July 21st, we all headed to another tour; Denim City. Seeing how different jeans and other things were made. It was by far one of my most favorite tours. I highly recommend anyone who’s into denim to check them out. After our tour, we had free time, so we ate in the same building as our tour and then a large group of us decided to go find TFIOS bench. On the way there, we stopped and decided to just head to our next tour, Van Gogh. Not too enjoyable for me, but hey! At least I get to say I went.

Once we finished our tour there, we went out to get an ice cream waffle. Yummmm! Let me make your mouth water...

Now... what we’ve all been waiting for: ‘The Bench’. If you haven’t watched the movie by now, I don’t know what you’re waiting on. I’m sure you’re lost. Lol! But we finally made it.

Zoom in. “I fell in love with him like you fall asleep.” Im still hype I was sitting there! After a few pics and just hanging around, we headed to my most favorite: Anne Frank Huis. This was my favorite simply because we had to read the book in grade school and I actually fell in love with it. I never thought I’d actually get the chance to visit and I did. I enjoyed it so much.

Everyone wanted to go back to the RLD after that sentimental trip.. another girl and I decided to just head back to our hostel... and got a little lost btw. However, we made it and after all of that, I got hungry. I went on a search for a McDonald’s with one of my roomies to end my night. While there, I came to find that they had cheese bites with marinara.. From that, you must know that Europe was good to me!

On July 22nd, we headed (with our 200 lb luggage) to the train station to travel to the next city. Can you guess where? Stay tuned for Abroad Blog #2!
